Below is information you may require in order to be prepared to send your children for a day at our Christmas Grotto. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at

What to wear

There is nothing worse for a child than to turn up unprepared for a day outdoors. Our site is based on a farm which in winter can get very muddy if the weather has been wet.

Please make sure children are packed with a waterproof coat and wellington boots as a minimum. Below is a list of advisable clothes to make sure they have a comfortable day with us.

- Wellies
- Hat
- Gloves
- Scarf
- Warm coat / Waterproof
- Change of Footwear

Note: We do have some spare items of clothing on site in emergency cases, however we cannot guarantee on size or availability depending on the day.

Food & Drink

Smart Trees has a fully equipped cafe onsite, however it is not open to school children during the weekdays due to the size of some school groups attending.

We strongly advise you pack a packed lunch and drink for your children in line with school guidelines. We have water fountains in and around the buildings however water bottles are also advised.

Medical Concerns

At Smart Trees all our staff are first aid trained. If your children suffer from a medical condition or disability that could potentially stop them from performing outdoor activities, we strongly recommend you inform the school who can make us aware prior to arriving with us. Wheel chair access is available across the entire site.
